In 2025, the International Colloquium of Gerpisa will be hosted for the first time in China, jointly organized by Emlyon business school and Tongji University. The event will focus on China’s central role in the transformation of the global automotive industry, particularly its leadership in electric vehicles (EVs) and battery production. As the United States and the European Union adopt protectionist measures, key questions arise about global value chains, EV affordability, and the transition to decarbonized mobility.
The colloquium will address how states and manufacturers are responding to the “Chinese challenge,” the rise of new forms of cooperation (joint ventures, investments, technology transfers), and the opportunities for emerging economies. Contributions are invited on electrification, digitalization, artificial intelligence, autonomous mobility, circular economy practices, and their impacts on work, public policy, industrial models, and users.
Discussions will be structured around three main streams: (1) work and labor, (2) social and regulatory contexts, and (3) companies, products, technologies, and value chains. Researchers and stakeholders are invited to analyze these transformations and their implications for the future of the global automotive industry.
